Is an important urban center in western Romania, is placed in a plain crossed by the river Timis (which bypasses the city to the south) and Bega River (which crosses the city center. The first document of the city dates from the beginning of the XIIIlea, when the Hungarian king Carol Robert of Anjou, a fortress constructed here, following the later, 1316, the Hungarian capital to move the gallery.
